ESB are responsible for managing the construction of all the sub-transmission, medium and low voltage electricity network infrastructure in the country and for managing this infrastructure which is owned by ESB.
The electricity distribution network includes all distribution stations, overhead electricity lines, poles and underground cables that are used to bring power to Ireland’s 2 million domestic, commercial and industrial customers.
M&ECA members are involved in both LV and MV works as part of the ESB networks management. Our members are also involved in the construction and maintenance of drop down stations, substations and specialist power generation in single site CHP, biomass and Energy from Waste facilities.
Member companies are capable of engineering, detailed design, procurement, installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing of the electrical, control and instrumentation scope of the entire power station.
Our members have also developed specialist skills to serve the more recently emerging wind energy sector.
